The Pontificating Teacher-Snot

Meet Gregory Salcido

… a pontificating teacher-snot who strutted tuff-tuff in front of a high school history class of sixteen-year-olds.

Talking big … talking rough … talking smart-ass … and mocking the very warriors who protect his right to open his foul mouth … and let his spectacular ignorance spill out.

“Think about the people you know who are over there. They’re dumbshits. They’re not intellectual people. They’re the freakin’ lowest of our low.”

And Salcido … “likened military recruiters to pimps and potential recruits to ‘hoes’. “

And it’s not just what he said … it was how he said it. That drippy, smarmy cockiness that reeks of condescension … delivered during one of his showboat moments … so he could flash his cool in front of  captive high schoolers.

Needy guy. I know these fops. I worked with some.

Teachers unable to exist without the fawning adulation of awed students … over imagining their fame and acclaim. Usually because … in truth … they were terribly small people. Inadequate sorts.

They’re self-inflated … and over time … they insist they float above us all … in some adoring orbit … to be worshipped because of their edgy style and supposedly dangerous ideas.

That’s this Salcido fool.

Too many high schools have too many bigoted apostles like this. Mind-screwing ideologues who trap your sons and daughters in their classrooms as they deliver the gospel according to them.

Teachers have no right to such warped evangelism . They have no right to impose their philosophies on anyone. That is not the mission of education. In fact, that is the antithesis of education.

So … in the ugly aftermath of this embarrassing episode … Mister Salcido … he of liberal cool … might consider the observations of a truly cool liberal. A First Lady. A woman who never wandered far from reality … and the truth.

Eleanor Roosevelt

“The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!” ~Eleanor Roosevelt~ First Lady of the United States of America, 1945. Realist.

The world is a very tough place.

Made secure by very tough warriors …

not by classroom fops.

“The good guys do win once in a while, even in liberal-leaning California. A teacher with the El Rancho Unified School District in Southern California named Gregory Salcido was fired after Board of Education members decided his anti-military comments caught on tape were so vicious that they — as well as he — didn’t belong in the classroom.”
